CHRISTIAN COUNSELING

Living in Balance

As Christians, we live our lives according to God's standard as modeled by His Son Jesus Christ.  As fleshly beings we will never be perfect, but we strive to live a life pleasing to God.  When we get out of balance or off-kilter (according to God's Standard), we can find ourselves living in "firefighting" mode moving from issue to issue in a seemingly never-ending cycle.

How do we get out of this cycle?  Can you find peace? Can we maintain harmonious and loving relationships?  The simple answer is yes, but we have to ensure we get our lives back in balance.  A plumb bob (pictured to the right) is a tool that was used for centuries to ensure buildings were constructed properly i.e. the lines were straight.  In aviation, plumb bobs are used to find the center of gravity (very helpful in ensuring fuel and passenger loading is done correctly).  The word of God is our plumb bob and we use it to assess whether we are balanced - that is, living our lives according to God's word.
